Nicholas Day, 34, of Belmont, died after his car traveling west on Route 3 crossed the center line and hit a dump truck early Wednesday morning in Morrill, according to Maine State Police. Driver dies in Belfast fatal crash Wednesday evening

The driver of a van died in a single-vehicle crash on Route 3 Wednesday evening when the van went off the road in front of the Belfast Curling Club, Belfast Police Chief Gerald Lincoln said. No one else was in the vehicle at the time. The road was shut down for at least an hour, he said. The crash is still under investigation. No name or other identifying information has been released.
